This morning, I was up at 6am to get to Encuentro and catching my first waves at 6.20am. In fact, I’m surprised to say that this morning’s summer swell of about 1.8 metres was fantastic. I got some really long rides using the South Point Fish we bought for the surf hostel – good choice of board as it turns out. Possibly one of the best ever surfs at Encuentro – only 3 of us in the water until 7am :)
Tomorrow looks even better; 2.2 metres on the forecast so I’m going to get myself out of bed even earlier – a 5.45am start ‘cos I want to be on those waves at first light! It shows that a caribbean surf vacation can also work in the summer here in the Dominican Republic!
