Expect a lot more photo’s from the clients who are going to be staying at Swell in the next couple of weeks, since we just got our new big 400 MM Canon lens today, and the first batch of pics are looking very promising.

Clare and myself love taking pictures, and when there’s half descent surf we will be at the beach at Encuentro taking pictures of our clients who are staying with us this winter. Speaking of which, the reservations are coming in very very quick and as a result very soon we will be full for a whole bunch of weeks, so if you are thinking about staying at our hotel in Cabarete, make sure you make your reservation ASAP.

Tomorrow we are off to Miami once more. We will be going to collect my children who will arrive from the UK on Thursday and are very much looking forward to seeing them and having them back at home

We will also be combining the visit with more shopping for the surf camp. For example, we have to buy a surround-sound system and satellite radio receiver for the communal area and a powerful router for our wireless internet. We’ll also take one last trip back to Ikea to check on a couple of things that were out of stock and say hello to Charles Wing from Ikea who helped us so much in the last two months to organize all the things we have ordered.

We all get back on Friday.

It was excellent. Glassy, head high and very long rides. My surfing buddie came out and was the first to test the new naish 11′6” SUP that we will be using for the Swell cabarete Surf camp.

He seemed to really like the board since he was catching plenty of good long rides with it. I was out with the 11′4” Naish SUP and also caught a good bunch of waves.

The forecast looks good for the rest of the week as well, for all sports: Surfing will be good for at least 5 days the coming week. SUP every day of the week, and the kite and windsurfers should also be happy with a good 18-25 knots wind forecast here in Cabarete.

Already, the ground floors are almost plastered and it seems as though everyone will be waiting on me to get the shopping done!

On the 30th June, I leave for Miami to go and buy all the fixtures, fittings and furniture for our fabulous new purpose-built surf camp.  I will be spending 6 days and a lot of money to equip every part of the camp; kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms – you name it, I have to get it in just over a week from now.

This coming week will see me pouring over plans, checking for every necessary light point and furniture placement.  It’s an exciting thing to have to do.

The magical lights are already ordered for the swimming pool; it will be a very special place to chill out after a hard day of your favourite watersport.
