We know how people don't like reading Terms and Conditions, so we’ve kept them short:

We don’t offer any refund or credits for the payment you make for the room we save exclusively for you at Swell, regardless of the reason for your cancellation: Nor can you transfer a payment you have made towards any one else's reservation or balance due. This includes (but is not limited to) illness/injury, family issues, expired passports, bad weather, sick pets, job commitments, traffic problems, airline delays, relationship breakdowns, or if you have just found something else you'd rather be doing.

In making a reservation at Swell, you agree to take out a travel insurance policy which must cover you for complete medical care in the Dominican Republic, together with cancellation or changes cover for any unforeseen circumstances.

If for any reason you need to extend your stay at Swell additional charges will apply; we will of course provide you with an invoice so that you can make a claim on your insurance policy.

Our kitchen is strictly out of bounds for guests: we know it looks inviting as a lovely open space, but it is for our staff only to use. We put Swell right next to a whole bunch of good, (often cheap) places to get lunch and dinners (on the nights we don’t cook). If you ask to cook or warm something up or keep your half-eaten takeaway in the fridge, you will be refused. There is plenty of alternative accommodation available in Cabarete if you like to self-cater.

We will look after you very well; our staff have the best training available in their fields of expertise, but if you hurt yourself doing an activity (surfing/kiting are EXTREME sports), or your stuff gets stolen, we won’t take responsibility for it; your travel insurance policy needs to cover you.

Make sure you have adequate insurance to protect any belongings you bring with you to Swell. Swell will not take any responsibility for any loss or damage to your belongings whilst at the camp; we can vouch for our own staff but in shared rooms particularly, we cannot vouch for fellow guests.

The same applies to any activities undertaken outside of Swell; like Canyoning for example, can be dangerous by their very nature and you undertake these excursions at your own risk.

Our surf coaches will give you instructions at the beach to keep you safe. If you do not follow their guidance, they will refuse to take you to the beach or allow you to rent our equipment.

If you are not in agreement to all of these terms, do not proceed to pay.

Thank you for reading.

  • Think of Swell as the anti-surf camp. There’s plenty of surfing, of course, but the similarities to other camps end there. For starters, the rooms are stylish — more boutique hotel than reggae-loving surfer digs. Then there are the legendary breakfasts (omelettes, pancakes and crepes, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and fruit bowls). Structured lessons take place each morning, with an instructor alongside you and the head surf coach watching from shallow water, ready to offer tips between rides.”
