About

Swell is the only purpose-built surf camp in the Caribbean; it’s actually one of the only purpose-built surf hotels in the world. We didn’t just convert a villa or other building into a hotel. Instead, we started from scratch, with an award winning architect, to create the ultimate place for surfers to stay at. We based it entirely on what we look for ourselves in a place to stay when we are surfing. Comfortable, stylish, social and spotlessly clean!

Gone are the days when, just because you are a surfer, you are automatically linked with below-par acommodation; everything on the cheap. Our place was born of travelling and surfing and finding it difficult to get a nice place to stay, close to the surf

STUNNING SURF BEACHES

Surf at one of the Caribbean’s prettiest and most consistent surf spots.

Our surfing beach is still unspoiled. With a sandy beach and a reef break, it’s all set in front of a palm-tree-lined tropical area with just a few charming shacks for board rental and storage: There’s no high-rise here.

SURF LESSONS FROM PROFESSIONALS

Small groups, divided by skill level, means safe and quick progress.

Lessons are taught in English with qualified instructors. Surf theory and pool-paddle lessons are also part of the course. We even give you a warm-up course so you can come fully prepared for your surf vacation.

A SOCIAL HOLIDAY

70% of our clients travel to Swell solo, which means it’s a great place to meet other like minded people!

You may arrive alone at our surf camp, but the moment you step through the door, you will be amongst friends. It’s a fact that at Swell, you are just as likely to be greeted by a fellow guest when you enter, as by one of our own staff. Communal meals, games of pool, Jenga (and countless others), going out for dinners together, canyoning as a group; it all happens at Swell.

Sleep (S)Well

Comfortable and stylish rooms with AC, Ensuite Bathroom and Pool view means you will sleep well

Our beds are beautifully comfortable and you can choose a California-king or twin beds. We only use quality sheets and towels. Rooms are decorated to feel restful and calming. Private rooms have A/C fitted as standard and all over look the pool. Shared rooms sleep four guests and have an en-suite and ceiling fan.

MORE THAN JUST SURFING

Canyoning, snorkeling, visit remote beaches, we can organize all those trips

The scenery here is spectacular; a mountainous country with canyons, caves and rivers. Go on a spectacular canyoning day trip, or ride horses through the countryside and rivers, or along our sandy beaches. Snorkelling, diving, kiteboarding, kayaking or visiting parts of the Dominican Republic’s colonial past; it’s all on offer and we will organise it for you.

Leave your wetsuit at home

Warm water year-round and clear blue sea. You’ll surf in board shorts or bikinis. We don’t even have a wet season!
No sharks, crocodiles or anything dangerous in the water either, just good vibes!

TASTY AND HEALTHY FOOD

Daily healthy breakfasts after the surfing and 3 dinners per week

All our meals are home made, using the freshest, organic ingredients from local producers. Guests have often asked us for our recipes and yes, we can cater for you if you are vegetarian, vegan or need gluten-free options.

The management was great (Haudy), the surf instruction was awesome, and the Breakfast and Dinners were top notch. The establishment is very clean and well maintained.
