I had long wanted to learn to surf, but was a bit worried about going on my own, abroad, for a learn to surf holiday. Stood up on the 1st day, rode small waves the rest of the week. Met some really cool people.

Lie in in the mornings, enjoy the afternoon trade winds. Cabarete bay is flat, sandy and shallow and one of the few places in the World with safe, side-on winds.

  • Wings & foils included — a full quiver, sized to the day and to you
  • Cabarete Bay conditions — sandy bottom, steady side-shore wind, safe to fall in

Was amazed by how quick the progression was! I thought learning to wing was going to be a long and hard process for someone without any previous watersport experience. Up and flying on day 5. Shopping for gear when I am back home.

Surf while the morning is glassy, wingfoil when the trade wind arrives after lunch. Cabarete is one of the few places on earth where that is possible.

  • 2 coached surf sessions a day — the full surf week, unchanged
  • 8 hours of wingfoil coaching — afternoons, once the wind is in
  • All gear for both — boards, wings, foils, impact vest
  • Both sports, one schedule — surf while it’s glassy, wing once the trade fills in

It was intense, but limited holiday time meant that I wanted to squeeze as much as possible out of my 8-day trip. Loved the combo of both sports. Coming back as soon as my schedule allows it.

Per-day figures are based on 7 nights — shorter stays work out relatively more, longer stays less.
Minimum stay is 5 nights. Longer, of course, is always welcome.

Good to know

Questions,
answered.

Because the room is the same whichever week you take — private, ensuite, yours alone. What changes is how much water time your week holds. Pricing it by activity means you are choosing what you will actually be doing, not which bed you get.

The choice is yours, there’s no right or wrong. Both are exciting and fun, and in both sports you can make a lot of progress in 6 to 7 days. If you live close to a lake maybe choose wingfoiling so you can continue your progress at home. Choose surfing if you can regularly access the ocean.
Surf equipment is also far less expensive and easier to move than wingfoiling equipment.

Not in the haggling sense — our price is our price, and everyone pays the same. We won’t undersell guests who have booked far in advance at full price, so please don’t ask. Our policy is to price honestly than mark up and pretend to give you a discount.

Where the number can move: longer stays. Book a longer stay and the price per night drops. Everything is already included — daily surf lessons or 8 hours of wingfoil lessons (or both if you choose that package), breakfast, dinners, Puerto Plata transfers and taxes — so there’s nothing extra waiting for you at checkout either.

Because quality costs more: We have staff who’ve been with us 13+ years and are paid well, fresh food, good beds, small lesson groups, our own transport to the waves. And our price is one number. If price is your only criterion, we’re honestly not the right fit.

Stays start at five nights, though the advertised packages are built around a full 7-night stay — enough time to genuinely progress. Longer is always possible; just ask in your request. Note, it’s more expensive comparatively to stay fewer than 7-nights.

No, sorry. Our surf instructors and coaches only teach Swell clients.
